Vann Royal attended the Battle of the Armory in Tallassee on Friday as well. Looking forward to a  bunch of pictures and stories from that event.

Recruitment
Our camp should always be in a recruitment mode! As many of our members continue to age, the future of the charge will be in the hands of those we recruit now! Why is recruitment so hard? I think visibility is one of the issues. We are reluctant to be visible. There is a notion that we smear our good name when we are too visible. I wish someone could explain that one to me! Of course all visibility has to be in good taste. Are we ashamed? Are we afraid it will become political? What are the reasons?

November 2009
On Friday, November 13th, 2009 George Gayle and his wife Tommie and myself, Mike Williams attended the State Capitol to participate in an educational talk on the Confederacy with 4th graders from Meadowview School in Selma Alabama.  George spoke about the monument, and the flags surrounding the monument as well as talked about the different soldiers on the monument. George talked about the Colonel's uniform he was wearing and Tommie talked about the hoop skirt she was wearing. The forth graders seemed to be attentative and tried to answer questions that they were asked about the talk. Many of the forth graders really  had no idea why the war between the states was fought. One even remarking that it was about slavery. This was quickly responded too by George and Ms Ann Adams from Selma who was also talking about the war. Then, Mike Williams excited the group with a tale about the ghost  in the capitol, said to be the ghost of a southern lady looking for word of her lost confederate husband. Before the forth graders were to return to their tour, photos were taken in front of the capitol of the group with our Confederate re-enactors in dress.
